Rev. John James is a retired Baptist Minister who was trained at the South Wales Baptist College where later he became a visiting lecturer. After serving at a number of churches in the area, in 1982 he became the Minister of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Penarth. In 1996 he was elected President of the Baptist Union of Great Britain and during his year of office travelled extensively at home and overseas.

Gary is the UK Hubs Director for the Message Trust, a worldwide movement committed to reaching the hardest to reach young people. He is responsible for heading up the work in Wales, Scotland and the Midlands. He also leads Message in Prisons and Message Bus – the fleet of hi-tech mobile youth centres.

Gary has been in ministry for over 30 years, the majority of this time in his beloved Wales. An ordained Elim minister, he leads a church in his home village with his wife, Lesley. Gary has 2 grown up children, Beci and Ben. He supports Wales at rugby and Leeds United at football.
